Chapter 17

Early the next morning, Lynn was in the kitchen preparing coffee. All she had to do was pop in her favorite K-cup pod, Green Mountain Breakfast Blend, into her Keurig and wait a couple of minutes for it to brew and she instantly had a fresh cup of coffee ready for her enjoyment. As it began to brew, the phone rang. I wonder who that could be at this hour, she thought.

As soon as she put the receiver to her ear, she heard her sister excitedly exclaim, “He asked me to marry him last night, and I said yes!”

“Congratulations, honey! From what you’ve told me these past few months, he seems to be a keeper. He seemed real nice when I met him,” Lynn responded enthusiastically. “So, have you set a date?”

“Yes. I insisted on a Vegas wedding. He wanted to be married in Buffalo so his family could attend, so we compromised and decided to do both. He’ll be arriving about two weeks after I get home, and we will be married then. That will give me time to get the house packed. That’s the plan anyway. Are you sure it’s okay for Andy to move in with you?”

“I’ll take care of Andy. Don’t you worry about a thing, honey. I’m here for you. Let’s get you married first.”

“I know, sis. You always have been. How do you think Andy’s going to take this news?”

“I don’t know. He is upset you never said anything about this earlier, but he also understands why you didn’t. I can tell you this, though,” She added. “He’s trying to accept Dave and the idea that one day soon you might move away. Be patient. I think he’ll surprise you.”

Nora laughed. “Yes, he always has.”
